Welcome to  Orkney Art

This is a new website and has been set up to display the work of local artists who live in the islands of Orkney, and, particularly, the island of Hoy. Orkney Art is currently dedicated to oil paintings by David F Melbourne, who lives on the island of Hoy, in Orkney. The Orkney Islands inspire many residents to take up painting and seem to draw established artists to live in the enchanted islands. Orkney also lends itself very well to providing many enigmatic scenes including some striking displays of the Northern Lights. Nevertheless, most of David's paintings herald from his unconscious mind - especially from his dreams - although he does paint local scenes.

Eventually, it is envisaged that Orkney Art will become a platform for many more local artists to display their work - in the same and different fields of the arts - from wood turning and carving, to sculpture.
