Author and psychologist, David F Melbourne, first became known for his research and writings about dreams and the unconscious mind. He has written regular columns for national British imprints including The Express newspaper, The Herald and Horoscope magazines, and used to be the regular fiction writer for Horoscope. He has also had seven books published on dreams and the unconscious mind. Now, however, he is becoming known for his almost dream-like quality oil paintings.

30 years ago, after his second near death experience, David began his quest to understand consciousness. This search lead to his study of dreams and the unconscious mind. During his research he devised a new method of analytical dream interpretation dubbed "The Melbourne Cross Reference Flow Chart Method", which is explained in his book Dream Interpretation - The Secret.

David discovered the "Trigger Effect" in dreams (a message bearing dream will awaken the dreamer), which is contrary to Freud's notion that dreams are the guardians of sleep (designed to keep us asleep). He was also the first person to establish a link between waking visions caused by physical brain trauma and the unconscious mind.

Ultimately, after writing several books about dreams and the unconscious mind, David invented The Dream Oracle, a method of obtaining clear guidance and wise advice directly from the unconscious mind, by using the dream as a vehicle.

Why are paintings by this artist likely to be an investment? Apart from the almost dream-like quality of his paintings, in years to come, David Melbourne's invention of the Dream Oracle is likely to surface as "the most significant advance ever" in obtaining messages from the unconscious mind - without the use of drugs or hypnosis". These are the words of  Dr Keith Hearne - Father of Lucid Dream Research and world renowned psychologist.

In addition, David is adept at incubating appropriate dreams that inspire his paintings and fiction writing, which is not known as a common method of obtaining ideas. In this respect, he has the added advantage of using self-hypnosis to inspire meditative visions, as he is a National Health Service registered hypnotherapist - see Orkney Hypnotherapy.
